As COVID (including the Omicron variance) is drawing to a close (fingers crossed), people are starting to think more and more about getting out and enjoying life again. Physically going out, that is. A bit of history about Valentine’s Day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine which is celebrated annually on February 14th. It originated as a Christian feast day honoring early Christian martyrs. The Feast of Saint Valentine was established by a Pope way back around A.D. 270 to be celebrated on February 14th in honor of Saint Valentine of Rome who died on that day. Fast forward to the 14^th and 15^th centuries, it became a more romantic day of love developed by the troubadours of Southern France and widely noted in European literature.  Then, by the 18^th century in England, it grew into an occasion where couples expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, candies, and sending greeting cards known as Valentine’s Day messages. So, you see Valentine’s Day has become a substantial day of commercial celebration of romance and love throughout the world. What a lovely, romantic day!
